Why Gracie Jiu-Jitsu?
- One in 6 people will be the victim of a violent attack.
- One in 4 women will be the victim of a sexual attack in their lifetime.
- 95% of all violent attacks and street fights end up on the ground.
- 10% of violent attacks do not survive the encounter.
- Atlanta is classified as one of America's 5 most violent cities.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a modern combat system developed from traditional Jiu-Jitsu by Grand Master Helio Gracie. At 135 lbs., BJJ founder Helio modified the traditional Jiu-Jitsu to work based on technique and leverage rather than speed and strength. Using this system, Helio's son UFC Champion Royce Gracie changed NHB (No Holds Barred) fighting forever.
Gracie Jiu-Jitsu students Learn:This program covers the four areas of Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Training
Area I. Clinches and Strikes (includes avoiding strikes)
Area II.Take Downs and Throws (how to bring the fight to the ground)
Area III.Ground Grappling (includes escapes, transitions, and submissions)
Area IV.Defense from Surprise Attacks from Standing (includes gun, stick and knife disarms )
Gracie Core encompasses 43 lessons and all the most important moves to build a proper foundation in jiu-jitsu. These are the scenarios most likely to occur in a real fight and therefore get you most quickly prepared to survive and triumph in a real attack. Included in this course are techniques from all four areas of jiu-jitsu training. Flow puts together techniques and transitions into a logical sequence, invaluable for "putting it all together".
The advanced curriculum consists of classes that include: Clinches, Strikes, and Weapons Disarms
(We pick one ground position for the month and exhaust all the techniques from that position, for example: escapes from the bottom of the mount). This is included in Core and Flow.
Gracie Advanced 44-88
This curriculum consists of 44 lessons above the core curriculum that contain additional techniques from all four of the training areas in jiu-jitsu.
Steve Brown has been a friend and training partner to Joey since 1980. He has an extensive background in martial arts instruction, including Gracie Jiu-Jitsu (Since 1989, Steve and his wife, Peggy, have had their own Mixed Martial Arts Program at the Ravinia Athletic Club). His style of instruction always emphasizes safety and support among practitioners. Joey gives his strongest endorsement of Steve and his Jiu-Jitsu program.
